5. Depot Street Services: Harold Blanchard of Greenville has requested to address the Board of Selectmen in relation to services to residents along Depot Street, in particular winter maintenance of the road and also curbside pickup of rubbish and recycling. The Town of Greenville must resolve the winter maintenance issue and ensure that SOMEONE is responsible to plow and sand this street. Furthermore, the issue of curbside pickup of rubbish and recycling should be discussed – I see no reason why these services could not be provided for little to no additional cost (they have been provided sporadically by the contractor in recent years at no additional cost to the Town).

6. Boundary Line Adjustment Project: Following discussions with the Piscataquis County Commissioners and also with Depot Street residents, the Board should decide whether it wants to pursue a joint public hearing with the County Commissioners on this proposal.

7. Proposal to State of Maine Bureau of Parks & Lands: In line with the Plan for proposed Improvements and Expansion of the Greenville Industrial Park, I have prepared a proposal to the State of Maine for purchase of land within the Little Moose Unit of the BP&L. As you can see, this is a request for permission to purchase the land in stages, all dependant upon future funding through grants or town meeting appropriation. With the Board’s permission, I would like to send this letter: it is important to get our proposal in front of the Department of Conservation before the end of the year so that legislative action might be taken to allow for the sale of state land.

8. Maine Woods Vision and Parameters for the Selectmen to Consider: I have attached some information from Governor Baldacci’s recent Maine Woods Legacy Program announcement, as well as some information from the Maine Woods Coalition and also the Businesses for the Northern Forest. All of these documents offer a vision for policy which improves the regional economy in and around Greenville. I have worked closely with all of these groups, and from this working knowledge and my insight as Town manager in Greenville, I will present my suggestions for issues to consider when the Board evaluates a project or policy which affects the Maine Woods.
