3. Snowmobile Program: At the last meeting of the Board of Selectmen, it was agreed to continue to pursue a favorable arrangement with the Moosehead Riders Snowmobile Club for operation and maintenance of the Town’s ITS snowmobile trail grooming program. An update on the status of the groomers themselves, and a possible management structure for the program, will be presented.

4. Property Tax Commitment: Property taxes are ready to be committed. The Board of Selectmen must select the actual mil rate based on the range created by this year’s total assessed value (less 50% of the value of all homestead exemption eligible properties) divided by our net tax commitment, which varies with differing overlay amounts. The impact of the homestead exemption off-set on our total assessed value has proven to be greater than anticipated: therefore, our total mil rate increase may be slightly larger than planned (e.g., $1.00 instead of $0.70). Town Clerk Roxanne Lizotte and I will present these details to the Board at the meeting.

5. Solid Waste Issues: The septage waste site license has been drafted by Rick Hafner at the DEP, and is pending final authorization. In the meanwhile, the storage tanks are being used as a transfer station. The necessary documentation and articulation of a potent corrective action plan for the landfill is being prepared and will be in the DEP’s hands by the end of this week. We have a meeting this Thursday at the stump dump with our airport contractor to see if he can finish this work for us.
