4. Annual Town Meeting Warrant: This warrant should be reviewed, amended as necessary, and ultimately signed at this meeting so it can be posted as soon as possible to allow the townspeople time to consider it. Our town report will likely take another 2-3 weeks to publish. In an effort to better inform the voters, a copy of the budget narrative; budget spreadsheets; administrative fee summary and explanation; airport revenue report; hydrant rental cost share calculation; and C/DD fee schedule will all be copied as a packet and distributed around town the week of May 15. This information distribution was directed by the Selectmen earlier in the budget process this year.

Details of these meetings will be shared with the Board at their regular meeting.

7. Proposed Letter to Piscataquis County: There has been a great deal of discussion during the budget process about the high county tax and the limited services Greenville receives from the County due to our geographic isolation. Much of this discussion has focused not only on negotiating with Piscataquis County for more cost-sharing for infrastructure and services, but also to consider legislative changes which would offer relief to communities such as Greenville which pay a higher and higher percentage of the county budget each year. I will have a draft letter for the Board’s review and input at the next meeting. Please remember that the Town of Greenville is hosting the Piscataquis County Commissioners in our meeting hall for their regular meeting this Tuesday, May 16 at 8:00 AM.

9. Clean-Up Day: Recreation Director Jack Hart and I met recently with a group of Greenville Middle School students who are working with some coordinators from Penquis CAP on the “Youth Ideas & Partnership Project” (YIPP). The students would like to host a limited clean up day, focusing on three areas: the school grounds and Loren Ritchie Community Partnership; the Junction Wharf; and Pine Grove Park on Prospect Street. Jack or I will present details of this emerging project, which we feel should take the place of our intended town-wide cleanup day.
